Zap Energy is a fast-growing company that is developing a novel technology that will make fusion energy a reality. We’re looking for a motivated and curious Staff Accountant to support the growing team. With your keen eye for detail and excellent problem-solving skills, you will support daily financial and accounting operations of the company and will be responsible for managing Accounts Payable processes across Zap. You will be a part of a tightly knit finance and administration team and use your talents to make a positive contribution, learn new skills, and support company growth.

Objectives

• Lead the Accounts Payable process for Zap, continually optimizing and streamlining related systems and processes
• Establish strong supplier relationships through timely payments
• Support the accounting month-end close operations, performing account reconciliation and data validation
• Provide support to other functions such as Payroll, Prepaids, etc.

• Manage Accounts Payable inbox
• Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges
• Maintain accurate vendor data in our accounting and purchasing systems
• Review invoices for appropriate documentation and backup
• Obtain appropriate invoice and payment approvals

Required Skills

• High School Diploma
• Good understanding of GAAP accounting
• 3 years of accounting experience
• Experience in an Accounts Payable role
• Excellent time management
• Strong Excel skills

Preferred Skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or CPA
• Experience processing payroll for a medium-sized organization
• Experience with Quickbooks

The estimated salary range for this position is $80k - $110k. Candidates may be considered for other positions at Zap Energy and actual salary will be based on relevant education, experience, and other qualifications. Range is published in accordance with Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act.
